PortVision

Terminals

Dock scheduling, resource management, demurrage, labor optimization. It's your job to get the ship in, cargo handled, and get it cleared. A phone call to the agent, e-mail to the harbor tugs, another call to a barge operator, and one more check-in with the Pilots. It's your terminal, but somehow you are always the one in the dark.

But now you use PortVision, and for the first time, you have perfect clarity. Because PortVision provides complete visibility to all commercial ship traffic, you have the power of perfect information on the waterway. PortVision provides real-time information about every commercial ship on the waterway, as well as up to five years of historical data to support compliance, training, vendor management, and negotiation - even litigation.

Real-Time Information

  • View a live map of the waterway, showing current vessel positions, terminals, and points-of-interest.
  • Set a text message or e-mail alert to stay in the know when a vessel arrives, departs, or passes a terminal or point-of-interest. Automatically send alerts to your boss, customer, or marine service providers, ensuring that everyone works together to drive maximum efficiency and minimum costs for all.
  • Create your own custom vessel list, and get an instant snapshot of location and status of all vessels on that list, day or night, from any web-enabled PC.

Historical Reporting

  • Access comprehensive vessel, terminal, and port reports to support a variety of back-office activities, including negotiation, compliance, market analysis, demurrage reduction - even litigation.
  • Analyze a specific waterway incident by replaying an animation in your web browser - then create a documentation packet to support your specific needs.
  • Access a data warehouse with up to five years of data on vessel arrivals, departures, passings, and other relevant activities.
  • Identify sources of dock damage, wake damage, spills, and other incidents.
  • Validate claims associated with incidents or demurrage.

Demurrage Reduction

  • Validate ship logs and Statement-of-Facts against objective time stamp data transmitted directly from each vessel.
  • Eliminate early NOR tenders.
  • Use animation and reporting tools to support analysis of demurrage claims.
  • Leverage PortVision's real-time features to optimize labor and resource management.
  • Drive best practices by analyzing the sources of demurrage.
  • Access PortVision's custom reporting, consulting, and expert witness services when you need to dig just a bit deeper into a specific incident or event.

Dock Scheduling and Collaboration

Use PortVision to collaboratively schedule docks for inbound vessels. Web-based scheduling allows an agent (or vessel owner) to request a docking via PortVision. Authorized users from your terminal can review the request, exchange necessary documents, then approve and schedule the call, all through PortVision. Use collaborative scheduling to significantly improve efficiency and reduce costs by allowing all stakeholders to monitor current status of inbound calls.

Some of our marine terminals customers have used PortVision to:

  • Save over $1M in demurrage costs over a seven-month period
  • Improve dock scheduling by leveraging real-time information and alerts
  • Hold service providers, employees, and waterway stakeholders accountable
  • Gain clarity and insight into what is really happening on the waterway and at individuals docks, sea buoys, and key points-of-interest
